Every person is worthy of dignity and deep care. In a society that demands constant productivity and numbness from our bodies, we can resist through building more compassionate relationship with the physical world, remembering our home and our selves.
Rei-Ki 霊気 is commonly translated "Universal Energy" or "Healing Power Life Force." It is a Japanese healing practice that uses gentle touch and/or hovering hands to channel this Reiki energy to you - nourishing what is weary, and releasing what no longer serves. It was brought to the West during the time of World War II, when the United States was unjustly imprisoning Japanese Americans. Practitioners like Hawayo Takata began sharing and teaching this practice in the US, spreading peace in times of war. There is much cultural appropriation of Reiki among Western Practicioners today, and it is important to honor its roots and lineage. I have named my practice "Up in the Magnolias," because Reiki reminds me of my favorite climbing tree as a child growing up on an Air Force Base - being held up in the branches of a tree you trust, while breathing in the utter softness of her flower's fragrance. The chaos somehow melted away and I could see again.
I was trained through Reiki Level II with Westwood Healing Arts and continue to receive instruction from my teacher, Amy Wolf. I am a queer European American who does not have a connection to the lineage of Reiki aside from my Reiki trainings. In recognition of this, and in an effort to make long overdue reparations for colonization and genocide perpetuated by my ancestors, 10% of all proceeds go to All Seasons Counseling to support counseling services for people with Japanese heritage, and sliding scale is available especially for BIPOC and queer folks.
I also offer limited 1:1 coaching services and rituals around life stressors, transitions, and grief - reach out for more info if you are interested!
My name is Avi Sague' (he/she/they). I am a Reiki Level II Practitioner, as well as a clinical intern graduating in 2027 with a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I first experienced Reiki during the pandemic, at a time when I was isolated and overwhelmed. I still remember my first session - how my walls began to relax and the joy of being alive started to pulse again when I thought it had gone out.
As a practitioner, every act is rooted in consent. If you would like, in addition to Reiki, I offer essential oils for aromatherapy, and make room for any intention you'd like to set, including some time to process what came up afterwards. It is a space where it is safe to release anything that has been pent up, as well as to just be and receive. I will listen to you and what your body is saying, even when that does not involve words.
You are alive for a reason, a breathing part of Nature, and have light that only you can shine. Look forward to meeting you!
